Finding

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jewelry findings are the parts used to join jewellery components together to form a completed article.

List of findings

  • Clasps to complete neckaces and bracelets,
  • Earwires to link an earring to the wearer's ear,
  • Ring blanks for making finger rings,
  • Bails, metal loops, and jump rings, for completing jewellery. Jump rings can be used by themselves for chains,
  • Pin stems and brooch assemblies,
  • Tuxedo stud findings, letters of the alphabet, cluster settings, metal beads and balls,
  • Plastic, fabric or metal stringing material for threading beads.
Findings are available in all the jewellery metals - sterling silver, plated silver, gold, niobium, titanium, aluminium and copper.
I love to be able to add my own handmade findings to my jewellery designs, it just makes that item a little bit more special and it means that I can get every aspect of the design to work together.

Have a great day x

Fimo
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fimo is a name for a brand of polymer clay made by German company STAEDTLER (STAEDTLER Mars GmbH & Co. KG). Fimo is sold worldwide. Its main U.S. competitor is the American brand Sculpey. The material comes in many different colors; there are many finishes to choose from, and even a softener to use with it because it can be hard to work. It is used for making many things, including jewelery, accessories, and small trinkets. Once shaped, Fimo is baked in a standard or toaster oven for about 30 minutes at 110°C (230°F) to harden it. Once baked, it can be cut, drilled, painted, sanded, and sliced thinly. According to information from STAEDTLER Fimo contains polyvinyl chloride (PVC), but has not contained any phthalates since 2006[citation needed].

My fabulous bestest friend Fleur at Fluerby's Fimo told me of a great site for fimo tutorials, and here's what I came up with....

Swirly bead

Made into a handbag charm!

It was made by kinda following this tutorial, but I got a little carried away with experimenting! I think it may need more crystals!

I will post some more pic's of the other beads I made once I have cleaned them up a little and put holes in them!

The stuff on Etsy....

Keep smiling
