Hello wonderful people and welcome to my post for Vicky's Grow your Blog Party!

My name is Niky, I'm 33 and I am a stay at home mum to three wonderfully charming monsters ranging in age from 15 to two and a spare child of 14 that I have picked up along the way. I live in Surrey, England.

 Me, my other half and the child formally known as mess maker!

I am very defiantly the creative type and am not happy unless I am making something! My main hobby is jewellery and jewellery component making also know as bead collecting/hoarding....

• I love DIY, have been known to do embroidery, made the odd teddy bear and I have just started to enjoy paper cutting too! 
• I love all things handmade.
• I suffer with a seriously short attention span and am so easily distracted it's a wonder that I ever complete anything! 
• Hmmmm what else to tell you? 
• Oh I'm a chocoholic and a coffee addict thanks to too many late nights and early mornings not due an excessive party life unfortunately as I am some what of a hermit and don't like crowds, but mostly due to my littlest whom apparently dose not need as much sleep as a normal human!
• Don't tell anyone but I am also painfully shy!
• Oh and I love antiques even items that other would consider as rusty old junk, I am rather partial to a bit of rust!
• I can be very random and consider myself to be 'quirky' 
• I love shiny sparkly things

I have been busy of late working on a new project, a new desk. My current one is falling apart at the seems were the draws are stuffed to bursting and to be honest where it is a cheap MDF flat pack desk that has seen better days. My new desk is a much sturdier 1930's bureau with much bigger draws and locks to keep tiny fingers out! I have sanded and painted it but it is still not finished, any who back to the point. I have had a tidy out of some of the many boxes on top of my old desk (I have not braved the draws yet) and have discovered I have too many beads, WHAT is this madness I hear you fellow bead addicts say, too many beads never can there be such a thing!

Well to be more precise I have too many beads that I know I will not use, they are all beautiful but I just will not use them and I did not know what to do with them, so I have decided to have a monthly giveaway, after all who dose not love a give away! So here are the goodies....

Labradorite

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Labradorite ((Ca, Na)(Al, Si)₄O₈), a feldspar mineral, is an intermediate to calcic member of the plagioclase series. It is usually defined as having "%An" (anorthite) between 50 and 70. The specific gravity ranges from 2.68 to 2.72. The streak is white, like most silicates. The refractive index ranges from 1.559 to 1.573. Twinning is common. As with all plagioclase members the crystal system is triclinic and three directions of cleavage are present two of which form nearly right angle prisms. It occurs as clear, white to gray, blocky to lath shaped grains in common mafic igneous rocks such as basalt and gabbro, as well as in anorthosites.

Labradorescence is a side-effect of the molecular change which occurs in large crystal masses of anorthosite, producing an iridescentplay of colors similar to adularescence. This labradorescence, or schiller effect, is the result of light diffraction within the lamellar intergrowths – fine, adjacent layers of the separate materials (lamellae) comprising the whole rock phase – created when conditions do not allow for sufficient diffusion to the materials' equilibrium composition.

So that is all gobbledygook to me but what I do know is that labradorite is a beautiful stone, one of my favourites....

One World One Heart 

Hello and Welcome every one from one world one heart to my small part of Blogland!

My name is Niky. I'm a stay at home mum (to one loud pre-teen girl, my nephew whom has ADHD and a toddler I refer to as mess maker)!!!! I love making things and trying new crafts, and may possibly have a small addiction to beautiful handmade glass beads, shiny gems, stationary, filo faxes and such, and am possibly starting to hoard said items! 

I mostly make jewellery, but there are soooo many other things I would love to try!

Random facts....

• My nickname when I was younger (I was going to say small but I'm only 5ft, so I'm still small) was Dolly Day Dreamer because I was ALWAYS reading books (my grandads fault for constantly supplying me with books)!

• Before my parents registered my birth my name was Kim but my dad likes to be difficult and changed it to Niky when they registered me, to this day all my family (very large family as my mum is one of 10) still call me Kim (can be quiet confusing)

• The best job I've ever had (and the worse paid) was working as a care assistant in a residential care home for dementia. I learned so much about showing people respect and promoting independence (I also loved that the conversations were completly random) and went on to train other people about being a carer.

• I consider myself to be very lucky, am a great believer in positive thinking and love the idea of Karma! (I once wrote a complete A-Z of lucky things for my best friend and started to send her things off the list randomly).

• My lucky number is 4.

• I am increadbly ditsy, I will start something then a little way in will get distracted and start some thing elce having completly forgoten what I was doing just a few moments ago, and this happens ALOT!
