February COM

February's COM was provided by our uber talented Jenny Davies-Razor and were these beautiful polymer hearts, mine was a wonderful deep burgundy colour....

My first plan was to wire wrap it but I could not come up with the right design plus it's gold and I very rarely work with anything gold! So I put it down on a scrap of leather I was working with to contemplate and suddenly I had an idea!

Another journal!
Just before christmas one of the local independent stationary shops was closing down and I brought a stunning little gold book when the lovely owner (we shopped there quiet often due to my stationary addiction) gifted me the shop display copy for free as it had a slightly scuffed up front cover!!!!
I loved the slash in the leather and thought that the gold would look lovely shining through it.

I really had so much fun adding a beaded edge (I am rather scared of seed beads, too many colours/sizes/options so the fact I enjoyed edging this was a surprise to me, I may have to try edging a few more things).

Unfortunately it is one of those things that look better in real life then it dose in photographs (the colours are all slightly off on the screen) but I did manage to catch the gold flash on camera!

and then there is those beautiful gold pages.

Thank you so much Jenny for the wonderfully inspiring hearts you may have cured my seed bead phobia!

Please join me to see what everyone else has created....

Year of Jewellery wk 5 & 6

I'm already a week behind but hey life happens!
For week 5 the prompt was Mid-Winter Memories, well this was started mid winter and then just sat there half done for ages, so I finished it off....

Labradorite set in sterling silver with a 4 in 1 chain maille bracelet and beautiful butterfly clasp by daisy chain extra.

With a cute cut out heart detail on the back, a little secret just for the wearer!

The beautiful flash from the stone, which unfortunately chipped a little, while in the tumbler (note to self labradorite is not to go through the tumbler hand polish only) so I have to keep this one!

Week 6 prompt was Medals and Coins which lead to this simple idea....

I love this butterfly bead from Mandrel2 and put it with a lentil bead that I made from two sixpence coins (I have made a few of these as they look very cool) then added a matching head pin by Earth shine beads and hung the lot on a black cord that I got from the Swarovski shop (I love the little silver caps on the ends of the cords it just adds a really lovely finishing touch to it).

Hopefully it wont take long to catch up again but for now I am off to enjoy half term with the kiddies, have a great day! xxx

Productive day!

Well as you can see from above the heart did not turn into a braclet, instead it is now part of this lovely shiny necklace! The best thing about it was I got to test run my new tumbler! It works fantastic (well it did after I figured out the reason there were bubbles coming out was that I used way too much burninshing powder hehe sooo many bubbles)! I was not expecting it to be as loud as it was but after seeing the results I'm thinking its a small price to pay. Hmmm now how to convince the other half.......
