January Year of jewelry project

Please click Here if you have come via the Grow Your Blog Party x

I joined up with the facebook The Year of Jewelry Project again this year and although I think I have shown most of these I thought it would be nice to have them all in a post together with the weekly themes (which I am trying hard to stick to), so here goes....

Week one - A Personal Talisman for my Year

These hidden treasure locket have by far been my most popular design ever, also six pence's are supposed to be lucky in the UK!

Week two - Birthstone of the Month: Garnet

This piece was a special commission for the daughter of a very lovely lady. It's extra special as the coins are from the recipients year of birth (I hope she likes it)!

Week three - Try a Tutorial!

This piece is from the AMAZING book by Lisa Barth, Timeless Wire Weaving and I love it!

Week four - Hammer It!

The start of my modern princess collection, Cinderella Earrings. Disc's coin hammered.

Week five - Squares

This week I was rather busy with a last minute commission, so I made super sweet and simple prong set moonstone studs!

Have a wonderful day lovely people x

Year of Jewellery wk 5 & 6

I'm already a week behind but hey life happens!
For week 5 the prompt was Mid-Winter Memories, well this was started mid winter and then just sat there half done for ages, so I finished it off....

Labradorite set in sterling silver with a 4 in 1 chain maille bracelet and beautiful butterfly clasp by daisy chain extra.

With a cute cut out heart detail on the back, a little secret just for the wearer!

The beautiful flash from the stone, which unfortunately chipped a little, while in the tumbler (note to self labradorite is not to go through the tumbler hand polish only) so I have to keep this one!

Week 6 prompt was Medals and Coins which lead to this simple idea....

I love this butterfly bead from Mandrel2 and put it with a lentil bead that I made from two sixpence coins (I have made a few of these as they look very cool) then added a matching head pin by Earth shine beads and hung the lot on a black cord that I got from the Swarovski shop (I love the little silver caps on the ends of the cords it just adds a really lovely finishing touch to it).

Hopefully it wont take long to catch up again but for now I am off to enjoy half term with the kiddies, have a great day! xxx

Happy New Year/YOJ

My first post of 2014!
I really hope you all had a great Christmas and a fab new year, I had a quiet one with the other half and the kids (well as quiet as you can have with four children at Christmas!)
New year was particularly fun as we let Mess Maker stay up and she and I danced to the music while watching the fireworks over Big Ben on the TV (five year olds are soooo much more fun to dance with then teenagers!)
I decided this year to actually make some new years resolutions/goals for 2014, I just have not finalised them yet (I promise I will share once I have), but one of them was to join The Year Of Jewelry Project I really enjoyed all the challenges I joined during 2013 and found a lot of the time it was just the thing I needed to stay motivated and to try new things.

So here is Week One - Something new for me....

New to me because I don't use cords, I'm a wire girl through and through, but I did buy quiet a few of these so you will be seeing more!
The beautiful lampwork beads are by Kerribeads and the fantastic feathers are by EB Bead and Metal Works!

I hope this year is your best yet! X
